Stories are an escape from the world, and a way of paying closer attention to it. That's what Fiction for the Frontlines is for.
Join a community of readers who believe stories help us stay human, connected and hopeful as we imagine a better world, together.
Subscribe for news on each new chapter, the books we're reading, and the ideas that surface along the way.
I'm Amanda, lover of stories, collector of unread books, and unapologetic advocate for the power and purpose of reading fiction. I curate Fiction for the Frontlines, a different kind of book club. We read carefully paired books over two months, meeting every week to share what is alive in the stories we spend time with and how they are sustaining us for the work of living.
We read as an act of rest and resistance, slowing down to allow stories time to work their way into our bones. We read to nurture our capacity for hope as we navigate the complexity of the times we live in and the chronic depletion that weakens our capacity to 'stay with the trouble'. We read to create a place where we can be human together and allow our imaginations to breathe. We read because survival is insufficient.
